Hey, I’m Emma!
Hi, I’m Emma! I’m a corrective exercise specialist and personal trainer with over 13 years of experience.
When I was just two years old, I was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. This condition has given me a bunch of challenges like hip dysplasia, flat feet, plantar fasciitis, and runner’s knee.
Because of these challenges, I became really good at learning how to recover from injuries quickly. I like to read a lot of books and research and have have tried out many different ways to get better fast. I needed to stay strong and healthy to help my clients, so I found smart and quick ways to recover.
I also studied Osteopathy for four years. Even though I’m not studying formally right now, all this knowledge helps me a lot in my work.
My Passion
I love helping people with fitness, nutrition, and a positive mindset. Personal training isn’t just about making someone do exercise, theres classes for that. It’s about fixing pain, improving how you move, and making you feel amazing.
My Qualifications
I’m trained and qualified as a personal trainer and Level 4 Corrective Exercise Specialist. On top of that, I’ve completed 4 out of 5 years of an integrated Master’s in Osteopathy, which gives me a bit more knowledge than the average trainer. I’ve also spent decades working with physios, osteopaths, and chiropractors, both taking exercise referrals and working as an assistant. Before moving into corrective exercise, I was a professional dancer and also taught children’s sports, including dance, swimming, and almost everything else.
In addition to my qualifications, I’m an RMTI instructor, which focuses on primitive reflex integration. Primitive reflex integration comes from occupational therapy, but I find it makes a huge difference in training people for athletic performance. It’s completely underrated how much of what I learned relates to injuries. I believe primitive reflex therapy fills many of the gaps in the mysteries of physiotherapy.
I’m also qualified in ergonomics, spinal manipulation, and dry needling, the last of which I obviously have never used online, but the ergonomics side I often use to help my clients in their day-to-day life.
In addition to my experience, I’ve been a technical ghostwriter, producing evidence-backed articles, usually in the physiotherapy realm, and writing SEO articles for clinics. So, although I practice within the realms and scope of a Corrective Exercise Specialist, I generally have a lot more knowledge than one might expect from someone in this role.
From a nutritional standpoint, I have small qualifications in nutrition alongside what we learned while studying personal training. I’ve also taken part in many retreats, including Hippocrates, and completed CPD courses that give me a little extra knowledge.
